Here's what we've lined up for you:

🏋️ Strength and Endurance Training: Meet once a week to focus on building the muscle and stamina necessary for hiking.

🗻 Community Hikes: We'll go on 4 guided hikes that will gradually lead up to fun, scenic, and moderately challenging hikes.

🌲 On these hikes, we’ll talk about everything you need to know, from picking the right gear to warming up before you start, to navigating the trails ahead and tackling inclines with ease. Whether you're new to hiking, looking to sharpen your skills, or just want to enjoy some time outdoors with a group, this program is designed to boost your confidence and endurance on the mountains.

Who is this program for?

Beginners to Hiking: Start your journey with a Coach who is invested in your success.

After this you can start hiking socially with friends again without fear of slowing anyone down! This will give you the right skills and confidence to continue hiking the rest of the summer. Learn about gear, trails, and safety from the ground up.

Fitness Enthusiasts: Add a new and exciting challenge to your routine. Enhance your physical condition with specialized strength and cardio sessions tailored for hiking.

Seasonal Hikers: Get in top shape this hiking season. Maximize your performance and enjoyment on every hike.

Social Connectors: Join a community of like-minded outdoor lovers. Enjoy group hikes that make fitness fun and engaging.

Frequently Asked Questions!

What kind of gear do I need to bring for the hikes?

We'll provide a recommended gear list upon registration, which includes items like proper footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, a hydration pack, and other essentials to ensure you’re well-prepared for every hike.

Are all sessions and hikes mandatory?

No, all sessions and hikes are optional. We understand everyone has different schedules and paces of learning. Feel free to join the activities that fit your availability and comfort level.

Can my friends and family join us?

This program is welcome to everyone, even those who are not clients of Northglenn Health and Fitness. They can register to join us using the same link you have and we will contact them to find out about their history. Physical abilities, limitations, experience. We will make sure they get the same quality coaching, guidance and knowledge that you do!

How do I get to the hike locations?

For each hike, you'll receive a link with driving directions and specific meetup details. Generally, we will gather around 7:30 to 8:00 AM at the designated starting point.

What if I am completely new to hiking?

This program is perfect for beginners! You'll start with the basics and gradually build up your skills and confidence under the guidance of Coach Patrick. By the end, you’ll be ready to hike socially without worrying about keeping up with others..

What can I expect from the strength and endurance training sessions?

The training sessions are designed to build muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance specifically for hiking. We focus on exercises that improve your hiking abilities, including stamina for long walks and strength for climbing.

How difficult are the hikes?

The hikes are labeled "easy" to "moderate" in difficulty. They will become progressively challenging along the way. They are designed to accommodate beginners while providing a satisfying challenge to those with more experience. No one will be left behind and everyone on these hikes will be supportive, encouraging and patient. That is what NHF is known for. People who are not supportive, encouraging and patient would not consider joining a program offered at NHF. So you KNOW you will be surrounded with people that lift your spirits and not bring them down!

Can I make new friends in this program?

Absolutely! Our community hikes are a great way to connect with like-minded individuals who love the outdoors. It’s a fun, social environment where you can form new friendships and enjoy nature together.

What are the mental benefits of participating in this program?

Besides physical preparation, the program offers mental health benefits such as stress reduction, improved mood, and a deeper connection with nature. It’s a holistic approach to fitness that enriches your mind and body. Also, we have heard from many women that they used to enjoy hiking and being outdoors and social. Now they don't because they fear holding their friends and family back and ruining the experience for others. We feel no one should feel this way but until you gain the confidence, that feeling may continue. This program will give you the confidence you need to say YES to social hikes with friends and family again!
